Family Fun: Fall Harvest Festival

RSS

This fall has been a crazy time for us, between me working on weekends and toddler boss having more than her fair share of sick days since she started school.  Even though I plan our weekend adventures weeks in advance (thanks to Kid Friendly DC, Red Tricycle DCWashington Family MagazineWashington Parent Magazine & Cozi.com), we're just now getting around to whittling down our fall bucket list.

First up was a trip to Homestead Gardens in Davidsonville, MD for their Fall Festival. We went last year for the first time and decided to make it an annual Grant fam tradition. This was toddler boss's first outing after her bout with pneumonia and I'm so glad that we went.  Last year, she was a curious spectator taking in all the sights, but this year, she was an active participant in everything from pony rides to pumpkin picking. And hubs and I had a blast too seeing how much our little toddler boss has grown in a year. #Grantastic

Our first stop was the chicken coop.  Toddler boss loved this since she just recently learned the words to "Old McDonald." We followed her directions and sang along too...of course.  Oddly enough, the chickens were the only ones who didn't cooperate when it was their turn to cluck. Go figure?

Next up was toddler boss's first pony ride.  Judging by how much she loved it, it definitely won't be her last.  What did we start?!

She found a comfy hiding place inside the corn maze and decided that she just wanted to hang out there rather than find her way out.

After we finally coaxed her out, we stood in line for the family hayride and she decided that it was her turn to wear my shades.

In true toddler boss fashion, she insisted on picking out her own pumpkin...after thoroughly examining all of the options...of course.

Three words: Apple. Cider. Doughnuts.  OMG!

Our last stop before heading out: my little pumpkin picking up her little pumpkin.

As you can see, we had a WONDERFUL time! Looking forward to returning next year and seeing how much toddler boss has grown.
